The Advanced CAD workshop provides a 5-session training that deepens the skills learned in the Intermediate workshop. Topics range from solid modeling, assembly and simulation, sculpting, rendering images and animations, and preparing models for 3D printing to fabricate a functional aerial drone.
This workshop gives an overview of the features and different environments of Fusion 360 software for professional uses of 3D modeling that are used across product development and prototyping. The fabrication process will incorporate basic electronics as well as 3D printed parts designed for assembly.
- Create parametric models to quickly and easily update and edit a model when desired
- Import image drawings and image backgrounds to create custom models with real world applications
- Import 3D scans to create custom models with real world applications
- Utilize advanced functions and tools within Fusion 360 to simply create intricate models
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) and create models optimized for common 3D printing technologies
- Sculpt organic shaped 3D models and integrate them into the CAD environment
- Use Meshmixer to edit, repair and prepare models for 3D printing

Meet your InstructorBrandon Shafran
Brandon is experienced in 3D Design and 3D Printing, with three years using various 3D printing technologies and four years of CAD. He has worked on design and fabrication projects including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), model windmills and company medallions.
He believes in hands-on, project based learning to develop a practical and thorough understanding needed to tackle new challenges. He is also an amateur inventor and entrepreneur who attempts to solve problems in innovative ways.
